Youth Scholarship & Goat Draw

The CANDICE CAVANAGH Youth Scholarship is a relatively new venture for CGS. The first scholarship was presented in 2016 and was created to reward our youth for the outstanding achievements they have made in our industry and help them achieve their goals in the next chapter of their lives. Candy was a wonderful person and an enthusiastic goat breeder. On her passing, her son, Edward Cavanagh, started a fund to give back to Candy’s passion – children. She loved to see youth participating and enjoying themselves with their peers at the CGS goat shows.

YOUTH, would you like to win a goat kid to show?
For a $10 donation to the scholarship fund, anyone can nominate a youth’s name into the draw. Be on the look out for draw tickets at CGS sanctioned shows. Get yours and you could win a goat this November. The winner must be a youth under 20 years of age, in hopes of them showing their kid prior to their 21st birthday. Included in the prize, the winning youth will also have their 2018 CGS membership prepaid. The winning name will be drawn at the completion of the 2017 goat show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto – November 4th.

  • If more than one doe kid is nominated, the winner has the opportunity to select the one that they feel is best suited for them.
  • Delivery from RAWF is the responsibility of new owner.
  • Transfer of ownership will be covered by CGS Youth Fund.

BREEDERS, are you interested in helping out our future goat breeders?  Here’s your chance!!!!!
We’re accepting goat kid donations. For a limited time, every doe-nation you make towards the scholarship fund, your get a ballot for our Youth Goat Draw.
The purpose of this draw is to give youth the chance to have a top quality show project that they may not have the means to buy on their own. Here’s the Doe-nation Form.

Any donor to this fund can enter this draw, but the doe kid must go towards a youth. Proceeds from this venture will go directly to the CGS Scholarship Fund. To donate, please contact Patrick McClean at (905) 375-5290 or Lori Hird at (613)-379-3039.
