The CGS Classification program helps goat breeders make informed breeding and culling decisions by offering objective, standardized evaluations of their animals. The program scores first-lactation dairy does against a breed-specific “True Type” model using 24 traits. These traits are grouped into four main areas: Rump, Mammary System, Dairy Strength, and Feet & Legs, contributing to a final score out of 100. The evaluation combines both linear measurements (like stature or rump angle) and qualitative observations (like udder texture or bone quality), supporting long-term herd improvement and genetic tracking.
