CGS Youth Program

The CGS Youth Program offers 2 programs for youth to participate in – a Youth Showman Awards program and a Youth Honour Roll program.   The programs are designed to  encourage young goat enthusiasts, (both CGS members and non-members), to get involved and earn recognition through participation in CGS-sanctioned shows and performance programs.  The first program,  the Showman Awards program is open to CGS and non-CGS members.   Youth are grouped into four age classes: Novice (8 years and under), Junior (ages 9 to 12), Intermediate (ages 13 to 16), and Senior (ages 17 to 21), based on their age as of January 1st.  Youth collect points for  for Showmanship classes at CGS sanctioned shows based on their age category and number of competitors.   The Honour Roll Program celebrates Junior CGS members who participate  in at least 2 of the 3 CGS Programs (show, production, classification).  Youth track their achievements throughout the year and submit a summary form prior to December 31st to be considered.   It’s a great way for youth to learn, grow, and build confidence within the dairy goat community.
